These are consistant with the ploy we've seen since 2010. DO NOT CLICK links in these emails, report immediately to spoof@paypal.com. This was posted at : * https://www.facebook.com/groups/UGNet/ http://www.ugnn.com/safenetting/2014/1408_PayPal-spoofs.jpg ------------------------------------------------------------------- 09 Evernote Malware Attack : The SAFENETTING / SPAMCOP spam traps also intercepted a revival malware attacks this week. BEWARE :: The electronic mail appeared to be from *Evernote* or the *Evernote message center* and came with the subject line "File has been sent" followed by the recipient's name. All of these were sent by Gmail users. The message usually does not have any content, just an attachment named DSC_ X.ZIP where x is a 7 digit random number. The executable inside the ZIP archive poses as a PDF document and this is exactly why you shouldn't trust a file by its icon and make sure that file extensions are visible This ploy was first reported in 2011, then again in 2013, and we're seeing that the cybercrime industry revives successful malware ploys every two years or so. **** DO NOT OPEN **** report to your email provider security. Also reported on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/UGNet/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 Facebook Color Scheme Scam returns: dontt be fooled There's a malicious group of tricksters out there this week with the same game as they've had for several years. They suggest you'll be able to change the color and/or layout of your Facebook homepage, you agree to their terms, and they steal your information. We implore you to let all of your Facebook friends know - DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRICK. http://bit.ly/1srdaGr ------------------------------------------------------------------- 11 Quotes: Getting ideas Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen. -- John Steinbeck The ideas I stand for are not mine. I borrowed them from Socrates. I swiped them from Chesterfield. I stole them from Jesus. And I put them in a book. If you don't like their rules whose would you use? -- Dale Carnegie ------------------------------------------------------------------- And that's it .... have a great week!
