Description
Pillarbox is a neat fullscreen text editor along the lines of WriteMonkey or WriteRoom. Except that it lives in your browser for some reason. Disregard this. It's designed for long writing sessions free from distraction, not for taking quick notes. Want to set up camp and get some writing done? Here are some cool things about Pillarbox: • It has typewriter scrolling -- try it. You'll love it. And if you don't, you can turn it off. • It's 100% offline. No internet connection needed; no data stored on some scary server somewhere. • It autosaves every ten seconds and whenever it closes. You can also manual save, if you're paranoid like that. • It's got a live word count. • You can set a word count goal and it'll tell you when you reach it. • It's got a built-in writing timer. • Appearance is fully customizable (with a live preview). • You can use any font installed on your computer, not just web-safe fonts. • Know some CSS? Add your own custom styles. Do crazy things to the UI. • Spell check as you type. Or not. It's an option. • Friendly UI. No keyboard shortcuts to memorize; everything is available from the toolbar (everything is available via keyboard shortcuts too, but you don't have to use them).
