Free Magazines for iPad

As it turns out there are a large range of free magazines, and to talk about each one would take way too long and your time would be better spent actually reading the magazines themselves, so here’s a list for the cash-strapped consumer of words:

The following are available for free on the US App Store, simply by searching as you would any normal app or by clicking on the link provided. Some appear to work globally, others are restricted to the US-only:

Internet, Tech & Games

Engadget Distro – A weekly digital edition from curated website content. iGizmo – A free gadget mag for those who love the latest tech. GadChick – A tech magazine aimed at the often left-out female population. CPU – Love hardware, custom builds and overclocking? This is the mag for you. GameQ – Like the video games magazines of yore, on your iPad for free! GameReactor – The long-running European-based magazine now available free. Lowdown Magazine – From AppScore comes a digital-only magazine about technology.

Lifestyle

LEVELED – Artsy culture, fashion and lifestyle magazine. WebMD the Magazine – Clue’s in the title, a lifestyle magazine for the health-conscious. Lowe’s Creative Ideas - A free home and garden magazine. Enjoying Everyday Life Magazine – Upbeat lifestyle magazine about life itself. The Watch Magazine – Love watches? You’ve just found your favourite magazine. Psychic Today – A magazine for all things psychic, whatever they may be.

Music, Film & Media

Snap Magazine – The official Hipstamatic magazine for lomography fans the world over. Alligator – Looking at the world of business, branding and the new digital age.

Sport & Men’s Interest

#5 Magazine – A digital lifestyle magazine produced in part by Rio Ferdinand (yes, really). Sporting News – A US-centric magazine for all things sports, free content with optional purchases.

Australian Magazines

Australia Unlimited – Varied stories about Australians and the life they lead. QANTAS magazine – Airline literature in digital form without economy-class seating. inpress – Melbourne-based free magazine focusing on music and the arts. Fitness First – Everything you’d expect from an Australian gym magazine, really! Three Magazine – Culture, politics and new media from down under. Myer Emporium – The Australian retail store’s quarterly highbrow magazine. Tech Living Magazine – Aussie electronics retailer Dick Smith produces this monthly, and now it’s free on your tablet.

UK Magazines

Metro iPad – Not quite a magazine, this daily free transit paper is delivered digitally every day. Metro iPhone – An iPhone edition of Metro, as above. Cineworld – The cinema chain’s own publication, in digital form. Co-Op Food Mag – The UK supermarket’s free in-store printed magazine in digital form.

If your favourite coffee-table dwelling glossy is absent from the list, there is another fairly cheap option that might please you.
