Polyethylene: advantages: closed cell, dense, non-absorbent material lasts 100% to 200% longer than less expensive foams.
disadvantage: 25% more expensive, extremely stiff which may not be suitable for cushioning gear for transport.

Urethane-Ether/Charcoal Foam: advantages: inexpensive, excellent for protecting gear, lasts 7-10 years, available in many densities.

Polyurethane: advantage: inexpensive disadvantage: breaks down quickly, open cell structure absorbs water, isn't as dense as polyethylene.
